For 17 years Doug dreamed about owning a Carrera GT. in fact, it’s his all-time dream car. He acquired it in 2023 and made a YouTube video about it. His car is a 2005 model. As is usual for Doug DeMuro’s car owning experience, he documents the maintenance and ownership experience.

The GT comes with a naturally aspirated 5.7 liter V10 engine which produces 604 horsepower and 590Nm of torque making it quite a handful to drive. Rear-wheel drive and a manual gearbox don’t really making it easier either and it is known to be a bit scary car to drive. But once you got the hang of it, become friends with the clutch and steering as well as the throttle response, it becomes quite an enjoyable drive.

Doug DeMuro’s car collection got new additions after he sold an ownership stake in the car auction platform Cars & Bids which he founded. He got enough cash to finally fulfill his dreams.

A lot of these cars are also famous from his youtube vlogs where he documented the lifestyle and ownership experience of some of these cars. Most famously the Ferrari, Aston Martin and Hummer H1. The Aston featured a “bumper to bumper” warranty which made the maintenance of the car easier and he has said that it was generally a quite reliable car.

Something we feel is missing from Doug’s collection is a hypercar like the Koenigsegg or perhaps a Pagani similar to the one in Lewis Hamilton’s collection.

What does Doug DeMuro drive?

Doug DeMuro’s daily driver is a Mercedes-Benz E-Class wagon. He has in fact owned many of these and has developed a relationship with this model. It is comfy enough to travel long distances and has a lot of room to fit his filming equipment. It also works well as a family car. In one of his YouTube videos featuring his car podcast, he ranked all the E-Class generations. He ranked W214 as the best followed by W213, W210 in his top 3.

I’ve now had this car for over a year — 13 months and about 15,000 miles — and I truly love it. Usually at the year mark I’m growning bored with a daily driver, but not this time. I adore this car, and I love it more now than ever before. Truly the best daily car I’ve ever had. – Doug Demuro

I love the historic, funny and otherwise funky stories of motorsports. In my free time I turn on the TV to watch F1 and occasionally WRC. My favourite cars are old, red and Italian.
